There is a massive outrage over China in India after the two nuclear-powered country face-off in Galwan Valley. As a result, there is a question surrounding the sponsorship in IPL 2020 as the Chinese VIVO company is IPL 2020’s sponsor. But, BCCI has no problem it seems. Additionally,

there are mass protests are happening in India against China. The reason is the ugly fights between two sides in Galwan Valley in recent times. There were violent clashes between the two sides. Moreover, the chance of war between the two powers is getting increases the aftermath of the clash. After that, Indian people start protests to boycott Chinese products.

On top of that, BCCI has no plans or intentions to abandon VIVO from the sponsorship title. It seems very clear after the words of BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal. The BCCI gets Rs 440 crore annually from Vivo and the five-year deal ends in 2022.

When you talk emotionally, you tend to leave the rationale behind it. We have to understand the difference between supporting a Chinese company for a Chinese cause or taking help from a Chinese company to support India’s cause.

Dhumal insists.

On the other hand, the BCCI man indicated that Chinese products supports usually India’s cause.

When we are allowing Chinese companies to sell their products in India, whatever money they are taking from Indian consumers, they are paying part of it to the BCCI (as brand promotion) and the board is paying 42 percent tax on that money to the Indian government. So, that is supporting India’s cause and not China’s.

Dhumal argued.

Furthermore, Dhumal agrees that the use of Chinese products must be reduced. But, he is also aware as long as they’re allowed to do business, there’s no problem.

If there is a directive from the government that no Chinese product or services will be allowed in the country, BCCI will be happy to adhere to it. But in the absence of any such order and if that money is being used in India, and for the betterment of Indian cricket, then I don’t see any issue with it.
