Every team in the cricket has at least one or more star players. But not all of them can live up to become legendary. In this year’s World cup we have seen some stars being born and some stars waining. Today at Stakebd, we are going to tell you about 5 legendary players, we might be seeing for the last time in the ICC World Cup.

5 Legendary Players, we might be seeing for the last time in the ICC World Cup

1. Mashrafe Mortaza

Mashrafe Mortaza

Mashrafe has already announced this is his last World Cup. This veteran player of Bangladesh has been playing for his nation for decades. He has a lot of records after his name. He is currently the ODI captain of the team and will be playing in the upcoming tour to Sri Lanka. There was a lot of speculation about his retirement after this world cup but he said he will take some time to think about it. Eventually, he will retire someday and it will be an irreplaceable loss of Bangladesh.

2. MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni

Who doesn’t know the legendary batsman and skipper MS Dhoni? After Sachin Tendulkar, he is the living legend of India team. He has given his country a World Cup in their home soil in 2011. Dhoni usually comes to bat in the middle order and holds the radar of his team in a strong hand. For his excellent direction, India was able to pass many critical moments and achieved victory. We think that there is still some magic left in him to deliver.

3. Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle

Chris has been relatively dim in this world cup. His performance in this session was not up to his standards. It is surprising that at the age of 39, he still is beating hard with his bat. West Indies played their last game in this world cup and we are really honored to see this legend of cricket play in it. The cricket world will surely remember this gem for a long time to come.

4. Lasith Malinga

Lasith Malinga

Though Malinga performed really well during the matches and took regular wickets, his time of waning has come. He said to the press recently that he has fought a lot an is tired now. He hopes to play the T20 World Cup but he needs to discuss it with the cricket board.

5. Hashim Amla

Hashim Amla

South Africa failed miserably in this world cup and for this, the senior players are put in front of question about their contribution. Amla disappointed his team when they needed him the most. So this may have rung the ending bell of Hashim Amla‘s career. However, the Proteas captain Faf Du Plessis has confirmed that Amla is not retiring anytime soon. But as his age is a concern, it is the last time we are seeing him in the ICC World Cup.

So finally we can say it was a privilege for us to see them playing in this world cup. Though most of them did not play well in this World cup, they surely had played a huge contribution in inspiring their fellow teammates.
