Nottinghamshire batsmen Alex Hales and Ben Duckett scored two half-centuries which saw them earn an easy win over poor Derbyshire. Two of Notts openers Alex Hales and Joe Clarke gave them a good start in County Ground, Derby. Outlaws pacer Harry Gurney took 5 wickets which helped them to carry a 27-runs victory over Falcons.

Nottinghamshire 198 for 5 (Duckett 64, Hales 63) beat Derbyshire 171 for 8 (Reece 61, Gurney 5-30) by 27 runs

Both Notts batsmen Alex Hales and Joe Clarke gave them a positive start in the battle of North. Joe Clarke scored 27 in 19 balls while Hales posted 63 from 42 deliveries. Top-order batsman Ben Duckett also played a great innings of 64 runs. Outlaws finally collected 198 runs in 20 overs for 5 wickets.

Derbyshire’s star batsman Luis Reece scored 61 from 42 balls and gave the Falcons a bit of hope. But, Outlaws pacer Harry Gurney totally destroyed any hope of Falcons by taking 5 wickets. This is the best T20 bowling figure of him. Falcons finally managed to collect 171 for 8.

Earlier, the Falcons won the toss and opt to bowl. The decision didn’t work for them as both openers of Outlaws started a positive game and gave Nottinghamshire a solid foundation for a big score. Later, Notts top order and middle order also maintained the consistency. Derbyshire couldn’t take advantage of their own ground.

Harry Gurney sent the first three batsmen of Derbyshire into Pavilion. Luis Reece was the only resistant batsman before he caught up to Tom Moores in Gurney’s bowling. Gurney also run-out Alex Hughes apart from his 5 wicket haul.

This was Outlaws second straight victory after their triumph over Northants Steelbacks on Wednesday. Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim made his debut in this game. He scored an unbeaten 10 run and took 1 wicket. Nottinghamshire will face Leicestershire on Saturday while Derbyshire will meet Lancashire on Sunday in their respective matches.
