It was a match against the mighty powerhouse Australia and feeble performer South Africa. However, Australia might have forgotten that things are not always the same as they look. They might have taken the winning as granted. But they may never have thought that Faf Du Plessis storm will drown mighty Australia.

Faf Du Plessis storm drowned mighty Australia

It was a beautiful sunny day at the Old Trafford cricket ground. South Africa had won the toss and decided to take the batting first. It was a really good decision of the captain of the protean team. They started to collect runs very easily and the Aussie bowlers seemed to have no impact on them. Though the opening duo did not last long, it did not matter as Faf Du Plessis took the matter all in his strong hand. He started to hit the balls really hard and with 2 sixes and 7 boundaries he managed to score a century in just 94 balls. His fellow teammate Rassie van der Dussen also scored 95 runs in 97 balls. Together they build up a strong target of 326 runs for their opponent.

Faf du Plessis’s century made him the man of the match.

When they came to bowl, Kagiso Rabada really showed his magic by picking up 3 wickets. Imran Tahir and Dwaine Pretorius also helped the team to give their opponent a hard time with the bat. The game went on to the last over. Australia really was on the verge to win the game. But the tactical direction from the captain an amazing bowling performance, Australia came short of wickets and only 10 runs.

It was a great match to watch. Both the teams played nearly hard to win. Maybe Australia was a bit overconfident and South Africa had nothing to lose. That’s why the outcome of it came in favor of the latter. It was great for South Africa though that they will be going home with some victory against a semi-finalist team.
