India got the tag of most favorite to win the tournament before the beginning of ICC World Cup 2019. The men in blue also showed their capability by topping in the group stage and losing in just 1 game. Everything was fine and they seemed to win the trophy. Suddenly, things have gone wrong after a surprising collapse of their top-order against New Zealand which costs them the third World Cup. Here we are going to discuss “India ICC CWC Report 2019”

India ICC CWC Report 2019

Overview

India possesses the best top-order alongside the best pacers in the world. India was the team to beat in this tournament. All of their top-order and middle order batsmen were in form and their pacers were basically wreaking havoc on opponent’s batting lineup. They completed easy victory against the likes of South Africa, Pakistan, Australia. Their sharp bowlers also cover the bleak performances of batsmen against Afghanistan and West Windies. In a word, their overall chemistry was something to admire.

Their first defeat to England was also not to be noted for. Many people still whispering India lose the match intentionally to kick Pakistan out from the tournament. Although, there’s no concrete proof of those conspiracy theories!

The two consecutive wins versus Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were also convincing. India headed to the semi-final with a tag of favorite. When the match of the first day washed out due to rain, most of the fans were thinking it’s just a matter of time India will keep their foot on the final.

Then, New Zealand bowling magic happened and Kiwis pacers Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson basically destroyed India. The two-time champions ultimately failed despite two brave innings from former skipper MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja.

Positivity and Plus Point

Blistering opening partnership

India’s opening partnership is the best in the World. Both of their openers Rohit Sharma and K L Rahul played astounding games in the whole tournament. Rohit Sharma scored five centuries in the World Cup and become the highest scorer of the tournament by scoring 648 runs. This opening partnership is really fearsome for the opponent bowlers for years to come.

Perfect shaped bowling lineup

Gone are those days when India was only touted as a batting reliant team. Their bowlers, especially pacers have shown tremendous efforts in this campaign. They had three regular seamers but their management also included Bhuvenshwar Kumas as the fourth pacer. After Kumar’s injury, Mohammed Shami got the opportunity and took fourteen wickets from four matches.

The spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Y Chahal provides superb balance alongside fierce pacing set-up.

Good all-rounding performance

Finally, India got quality all-rounders who can be a game-changer. Hardik Pandya proved he will be a pillar for team India for the years to come. Ravindra Jadeja also revived his skills and prowess. They are looking promising for the future.

Improvement Sections

India’s mercuric openers and top orders are the main reason behind their success. However, their tail-enders are not up to the job yet and it showed against NZ. MS Dhoni, who is nearing the end of his glimmering career, came in 7th position which surprised many. As Dhoni will not be around for long, India must start to search the options for him.

Rising Star

Rishabh Pant has shown his brilliance and got the trust that he could be an integral part of team India in the near future. He is slowly moving into the team. He demonstrated his attitude as a perfect batsman and in coming days, he could be decisive for them.
