Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan is looking to extend his business entities in sports. Owners of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders is thinking to land in England. Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shahrukh Khan open to investing in ECB‘s The Hundred Cricket. Moreover, KKR CEO Venky Mysore didn’t rule out the possibility of investment in England. The Hundred Cricket is the brainchild of England and Wales Cricket Board. It seems KKR is ready to make an investment there.

Additionally, The Daily Telegraph newspaper confirmed the news that KKR is interesting to invest in The Hundred Cricket tournament. The tournament has been postponed for this year due to COVID 19 pandemic. But, it will be probably return in the next year if everything is ok. ECB has a big dream around this newly invented cricket. IPL franchise team KKR is evaluating the possibility to invest in the tournament. According to the KKR CEO –

I know this story is going around. All I said was ‘if we are approached to consider investing in ‘The Hundred’, we will evaluate it.

Mysore told PTI, reacting to the report in the English daily.

On the other hand, KKR is owned by two Bollywood celebrities Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla. KKR is the two-times IPL champion. Moreover, the owners of KKR invested in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in 2015. They also acquired another team in Cricket South Africa’s Global T20 league. But, the tournament very unfortunately canceled in 2017.

We are the biggest brand in IPL and perhaps the only global brand in cricket. So we can understand why leagues around the world would be interested in getting Knight Riders on board. I think leagues are also realizing the value of having investors such as us who bring our brand, professional management, marketing ideas, and a huge fan base.

Mysore insisted.

Furthermore, ECB has lost almost 300 million dollars due to the global pandemic. They had a big dream of The Hundred Cricket tournament. But, it fails to see the light in the first season. Now, ECB is planning to return it in the next year’s July with great enthusiasm.

We anticipate the cost of no cricket this year could be as bad as 380 million pounds. That is the worst-case scenario for us.
