Lancashire defeated Durham on a huge margin of 72 runs and climbed up to the top of the points table in their north group match yesterday. The day was on behalf of Lancashire and the venue as well. It will be the batsmen of them who should get all the credit for giving their opponent a higher target which they were not able to achieve.

Lancashire defeated Durham on a huge margin: NG Vitality Blast T20 2019

Old Trafford Cricket Ground
The match was hosted by Old Trafford Cricket Ground.

Lancashire won the toss and opt to bat first. It was a good decision indeed. All of their openers batted well yesterday. The Partnership between  Steven Croft and Glenn Maxwell was extraordinary. Croft remained unbeaten throughout their innings and scored 65 runs form 43 balls. On the other hand, Maxwell played a rock-solid inning of 58 runs from 33 balls. By the end of 20 overs, their scorecard looked like this: 189-3 (20).

We have to give Durham bowler Nathan Rimmington some praise as he took 2 wickets in four overs sparing just 30 runs. However when Durham batsmen came to bat only Scott Steel was able to grab the ground tightly. It was only his effort that helped his team go through the difficult times. However, after facing 43 balls, he was dismissed by Matthew Parkinson. After his departure, only two of the Durham player managed to score two-digit runs, the rest were not able to cross the barrier.

It was the mystic balls of Matthew Parkinson that fell the Durham batsmen into a riddle. He alone took 3 wickets and provided his team enough boost to go and shatter their opponents batting lineup.

Though both of the teams won one match, Lancashire did not lose the another as Durham did. Due to rain, their previous match got washed away and the got a point in their bag without even playing the match. So this puts Durham in 5th place. Hopefully, with better cricket, they might be able to climb up.
