Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is ready to captain Bangladesh National Cricket Team in upcoming Sri Lanka tour. Bangladesh is set to play three-match ODI series against them. The news was published by national team selector Habibul Bashar Sumon on Monday. He informed the press that current skipper Mashrafe will lead Bangladesh Cricket Team at Sri Lanka tour.

While Mashrafe is ready to lead the team, middle-order batsman Liton Das had asked for leave till August 5. Liton is said to complete his nuptials and that’s the reason he will be absent in Sri Lanka tour.

In the meantime, vice-captain Shakib Al Hasan, who is currently on holiday in Europe with his family, asked for a vacation. He will most probably miss the Sri Lanka tour.  The majestic all-rounder asked BCB for leave following Bangladesh’s World Cup campaign in England.

There is also concernment about two players Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim. Both of them are suffering from injuries since the ICC World Cup 2019.

Habibul Bashar, former captain of Bangladesh cricket, hoping for a new start as Tigers endured a disappointing World Cup campaign and finished at eighth position.

Some of the players have injury concern. Mashrafe, Mushfiq, Riyad all of them are dealing with injuries but we still haven’t any report regarding this. I think we should start our recovery from disappointment through this series. I am hoping that everyone will be fit so that we can take our best squad at Sri Lanka. 

Bashar also emphasized about Mash’s injury. He is hoping Mashrafe will be declared as fit so that the inspirational cricket will able to play against Sri Lanka with full rhythm.

Mashrafe is upon himself. He best knows his situation. We’ll monitor his condition because he’s suffering from strain injury. He still has time to recover from that. We are hopeful about his inclusion to our squad.

The former ace batsman also they are closely working on the situation of other players.

We heard about Liton’s injury. He is unlucky. We also discussed the matter about Shakib’s. He asked for leave earlier. We also have in mind whom we should include if they will get absent. We were told to keep two options open.

There will be no training camp for Bangladesh before Sri Lanka tour. Tigers will departure for Sri Lanka on July 20 from Bangladesh. They will play their first game on July 26. They will play their second and third game on July 38 and July 30 respectively.
