Scoring a century in the World Cup is not a matter of joke. If we see closely the history book, we will have a better idea. Only 3 batsmen scored five centuries in their entire World Cup in cricket’s history. Then there is Indian hitman Rohit Sharma who alone scored five centuries in the ICC World Cup 2019. He is now the sole recorder of the highest century in a World Cup.

Rohit Sharma made history

Sri Lankan legendary batsman Kumar Sangakara previously scored four centuries in 2015 World Cup. This was the best record of the century to date. Then, the words of former Windies great Brian Charles Lara comes to our mind ”Record is made to be broken”. Rohit Sharma reminds us of the great word of a former great and shows how much truth the word is.

Rohit sharma is on fire in this tournament

Rohit is now the fourth international cricketer who scored more than 600 runs in a tournament after former Indian great Sachin Tendulkar(2003 CWC), Australia’s Mathew Hayden(2007 CWC), and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan(2019 CWC). No wonder, he is having the best form of his career.

Most of the cricket fans put Indian skipper Virat Kohli to break the run record. But, the record goes to his teammate Rohit Sharma. He started his campaign by scoring a century against South Africa. After that, he scored a fifty against Australia then scored three centuries at a stretch. What a record!

His second century came against the match versus arch-rival Pakistan. Then, he scored another century against host England and just after the day he posted the third century against Bangladesh after got life as Bangladeshi opener Tamim Iqbal missed a catch of him when he was 9.

Rohit already toppled Sangakara. Now, he has another chance to overthrow Sangkara’s record by posting four centries at a stretch. If he can repeat the same form against stumbling New Zealand in the round-robin stage, he can surely break the record.

Rohit is now the top scorer of the World Cup with 647 runs. This is the highest run ever for World Cup’s group stage. Rohit is surely flying high at the moment.
