Bangladeshi opener Tamim Iqbal formally requested Bangladesh Cricket Board(BCB) to give him rest. He wants to stay free from cricket after series of disappointing performance. The left-hander wants to take rest from August and according to cricinfo, BCB granted his wish. It means he won’t be the part of upcoming Afghanistan series.

Bangladesh will play a test match against Afghanistan and a tri-nation series in their home in September. Tamim don’t want to be the part of this series. He is playing for Bangladesh for too long. After ICC World Cup 2019, he captained the Tigers in Sri Lanka tour. He also produced series of disappointing performances.

Maybe, this is the time he should rechargehis battery and come back stronger. Bangladesh need their opener back in full form. Bangladesh will play against Afghanistan in their only test at Chittagong on September 5. After this series, they will start to play a tri-nation series against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan.

Tamim will spend his time to take part in physical fitness program in abroad. He thinks he is lacking in physical fitness and wants to recover it soon. Tamim will play against India in next November. He will be the part of test and T20 series against India. BCB rested Shakib Al Hasan after the World Cup and now its the turn for Tamim Iqbal.

Tamim Iqbal was his shadow in World Cup and Sri Lanka tour. He is out of form completely. He gave a letter to BCB in order to get the rest. He describes the rest as the “mental rest“. Pehaps, he wants to be tension-free and start fresh.

BCB cricket operations chief and former cricketer Akram Khan also confirmed the news about getting a letter from Tamim.

BCB perhaps considering his wishes. It’s the best time to grant his wishes. He needs to start fresh to boost up his confidence after strings of bad results. If he can come back stronger against India, Bangladesh will get benefited.
