Team report on England and Australia before their semi-final encounter

England

World cup stats
Point table ranking:3
Won 6 matches, Lost 3 matches.

England

Form:

England came from the dark pit to a glorious position in a fairly quick time. They have waited 27 years for this day to come. Yes, England has not played a semi-final for over two eras. They have become one of the mightiest force in cricket with tremendous effort and dedication. Hence we are giving a big hand to the heroes of the team. England defeated both India And New Zealand showing a mesmerizing performance. Though they have lost to Australia in the group stage match, we hope they will try hard and soul not to repeat that scenario again.

Health:

England team does not have any injury issue so far. All the players are in good shape and take on any challenge at any time.

Their concern:

The biggest concern for England is itself. If they can handle the pressure and play at their potential, there seems no reason for their defeat. England team fall victim of criticism of their media after back to back defeat from Sri Lanka and Australia. That surely has an effect on the player’s mind. So the media should be concerned about it.

Australia

World cup stats
Point table ranking: 2
Won 7 matches, Lost 2 matches.

Australia

Form:

Australia has only lost two times in the group stage. As far as defeats go, the loss at Old Trafford had to be up there. Chasing 326 runs to win – the highest successful chase of this year’s World Cup is 322Australia made 315 with Usman Khawaja and Marcus Stoinis both battling injuries during the innings. Before their loss though, the had a strong win over England and New Zealand.

Health:

Australia’s squad is in the worst form among all the 4 competitors of semi-finals. Usman Khawaja has been ruled out of the World Cup after suffering a hamstring injury against South Africa. He joined the casualty ward with Shaun Marsh, whose tournament has also been ended due to a broken arm. The fitness level of Marcus Stoinis remains doubtful after he suffered his second side strain of the tournament against South Africa.

Their concern:

Australia made very few changes across its group stage matches and now must make at least one, possibly two though its the worst possible time. Justin Langer is tensed about the hole Stonis left. Whether Australia can seamlessly cover for Khawaja’s absence, while also filling a hole left by Stoinis – should he not be passed fit – has to be a major concern for the coach.
