They managed to win an 18 runs victory over India. Kiwi bowler Matt Henry was awarded the man of the match for picking up 3 important wickets in an economy rate of 3.37. Matt Henry, the man of the match of yesterday’s semi-final game.

New Zealand won the toss the day before yesterday and decided it would be better to bat first. Unfortunately, opener Guptill was dismissed by Bumrah at the very beginning in the innings. He only scored only one run this time. However, Captain Kane Williamson and Ross Tailor duo stayed fix in the ground and recovered the team from a collapse. On that day the weather forecast was in the opposition for gameplay. So after 46 overs of batting, they had to come back to the pavilion due to rain. When the match resumed on the next day, they summed up 239 runs losing 8 wickets. We need to bear in mind that usually in the semi-finals we don’t get to see high run target. So New Zealand gave a competitive target to India.

When New Zeland came to bowl, nobody on earth could have imagined what scenario they would bring down. They literally destroyed the opening line up of India team. When the Indian team score was 5, they lost 3 of their openers. So you can imagine what havoc the Kiwis brought down to the Indian fort. The tactful bowling of Trent Boult and Matt Henry dismissed half of the Indian Batsmen. The rest were sent back to the pavilion by the other Blackcaps.

So we have to say it was the bowlers who brought down the victory to the Kiwis. They are going to play finals for the second times in a row. So let’s see if they can snatch the world cup to their home or not.
