The great ashes test series has started and in the first Test Australia beat CWC19 champion England on a huge margin of 251 runs. The first test concluded at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Monday, August 5. Under the captaincy of Joe Root, England was bowled out for 146 runs in the chase of 398 runs on Day 5.

In that test, however, Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle claimed two wickets and scored 44 runs. Ricky Ponting saw the whole match and claimed that Siddle’s bowling style is much similar to bowling great Glenn McGrath.

Ricky said to media that everybody knows McGrath has a great record at Lord’s and loved bowling there. He used to seam the ball back down the slope because he wasn’t a big swing bowler. The way Peter Siddle is bowling now is quite similar to the way McGrath bowled in his last few years.

It is important to note that, Siddle came into the squad in replacement of players like Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. So you can get an idea of how impressive he is in the eyes of the selectors.

Australia cricket coach Justin Langer says that the way Siddle played in that practice game and the way he’s been bowling and his style has played a vital role in winning the first test.

However, Siddle has a lot more to prove Now. The second test has begun from yesterday August 14 at Lord’s. Let’s see if he can play up to the expectation or not.
