The ending of Bangladesh‘s World Cup journey wasn’t expected as Pakistan hammer Bangladesh in their last game at Lord’s, London. It was such a painful moment for Tigers fans. It was totally an unexpected defeat on the fabulous tournament as Tigers started their campaign by defeating South Africa.

Time to look forward and put aside the emotional judgment

Thing is everyone wants to be the part of happiness but nobody wants to be the part of sadness. After Friday’s crushing defeat nobody’s talking about the tournament Tigers endured their entire campaign. Pakistan game was such a heartbreaking game for Bangladesh.

Tigers fans wanted dearly to end their campaign by finishing fifth, just a place behind the semi-final spot. It was not a big hope as Bangladesh previously won a convincing win against West Indies, Afghanistan, and South Africa. They also didn’t surrender to other teams. They put a heavy fight against the likes of New Zealand, Australia, and India.

Bangladesh suffered a heavy defeat in their last game vs Pakistan and people are frustrated about it

They have nearly defeated New Zealand. If they didn’t make some blips then it was an easy win. But, luck didn’t favor at all. They also scored 333 against mighty Australia and only defeated by India by 28-runs while Pakistan gets defeated by India by 89-runs.

So, yes, the signing off was pretty much heartbreaking and unexpected. It was one of the two games in nine matches Bangladesh hammered by their opponents after the defeat against host England.

They bowled very badly and fielding was absolutely worse. The batting department – considerably Bangladesh’s most strong department also failed to do any positive thing. Except for their all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, not a single batsman could even reach at fifty in the response of Pakistan’s 315.

Bangladeshi batsmen were totally outclassed by 19-year-old Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi. Afridi’s unsullied length, blazing pace, searing yorkers, high bouncers were totally unique and Bangladeshi batsmen had no answer for this as they surrendered very poorly. Bangladesh got badly exposed by this game.

The emotional judgment after Bangladesh’s heavy defeat isn’t sensible at every aspect as most of the criticism is targeting Bangladeshi skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza. The captain of Bangladesh endured a tumultuous tournament as he only acquired 1 wicket from 8 matches. He played his last game against Pakistan. It was a good decision at all.

Many fans were expected him to announce his retirement but he buys more times as his dream is to sign off his illustrious career at his country. He deserves that completely. After playing for Bangladesh all these years with the extreme dedication he can expect to hang on his boots in home ground.

Thing is Bangladesh’s glorious journey with great captain Mash is already over and they should think about for future. It will be a wise decision. Chose new leader slowly but wisely, find out the gap, bring some new fresh blood in opening and pace bowling, put some new and high-profile coach where necessary to prepare for the 2023 World Cup in India.

All these things will definitely bring some positivity alongside good result. We should keep aside the emotional judgment and think wisely and implement ideas gradually if we want to progress.
